Quoting Kiwigirl42:
Recently moved to the other side of this massive continent (AUSTRALIA!) for a great new job. Hard to believe that this is the same country, the uber-cool cafes, laneways, boutiques and urban life of Melbourne has been replaced by 100's of kilometres of deserted beaches, red dirt desert and endless blue sky. Have to say that the men here are "real men" they are fit, sunburnt, drive mud-caked "utes" (that's a pickup truck to you US folk) and I don't think they use a lot of hair product! Missing my old home and friends, and of course my pets (safely living with lovely friends) but also amazed by this new way of life.
Anyone got any tips on meeting new people in a completely new town? Particularly as I'm not too interested in spending a lot of time hanging around in bars, especially as they tend to be a bit "rough" round here, to put it mildly!
Cheers!
